OVERVIEW
Mr. O’Dell has over 35 years of experience in surveying, design engineering, and construction inspection and management for various types of civil engineering projects, including roads and highways, bridges, culverts, storm water management, sanitary sewer collection, water main distribution, and sidewalks. Mr. O’Dell also has significant experience with land surveying, engineering design surveys, construction layout, construction inspection, and construction testing for the types of projects listed above. Survey of existing conditions of more than 60 bridges located in the counties of Shiawassee, Branch, Berrien, Ionia, and Genesee over a 10-year span.

Design surveys for reconstruction of 3,500 feet of 2 lane asphalt local road paving and ditching, including the removal and replacement of an existing large culvert at the Leach Drain, new guardrail, heavy rip-rap slope protection, traffic control measures, and permanent pavement markings and signing.

2011 Culvert Replacement Program –
Contract No. 3, Genesee County
Design surveys, and design engineering assistance for five separate large culvert replacement projects (four concrete box culverts and one 60” CSP culvert), including approach construction, ditching, driveway approach and culvert improvements, new guardrail, channel modifications, heavy riprap slope protection, traffic control measures, and permanent pavement markings and signing. Performed HY-8 hydraulic analysis. Obtained five separate MDEQ permits.
Maple Avenue over Thread Creek (2011)
Bridge Replacement,
Client: City of Burton, Genesee County
Design surveys, and design engineering assistance, and construction staking for removal of an existing 2 lane concrete bridge and replacement with a new concrete box beam bridge with 2 lanes, shoulders, and sidewalk. Project included 500 feet of paved approach, reconstruction, storm sewer extensions, ditching, driveway approach and culvert improvements, new guardrail, channel improvements, heavy riprap slope protection, traffic control measures, and permanent pavement markings and signing.

Surface Water Management
Design surveys and construction staking for the replacement of an existing county drain with approximately 3,500 feet of concrete pipe storm sewer ranging in size from 24” to 48” diameter in order to provide adequate drainage capacity for current & proposed development. Project included road crossings, roadside re-ditching, existing utility adjustments, driveway approach and culvert replacement.

Construction Observer for 3miles of 48” diameter steel treated water transmission main, including gate valves, manways, hydrants, air release valves, culvert replacements, drain crossing, ditch and road restoration, and all related work. The project is part of the KWA Water Supply System to provide a domestic water supply to Genesee County, from Lake Huron.
